The building at 1000 King has been part of Charleston for more than 125 years. Once known as Charleston County Hall, it became one of the city's most storied entertainment venues, with performances by James Brown, Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, and Stevie Wonder, championship wrestling events featuring Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, and Ric Flair, and visits from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Oprah. The history greets you at the entrance in the form of an original mural created by local Redux Art Center artist, Taylor Faulkner.
